Mt. Vesuvius Itself
Mt. Vesivius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe. It is located on Italy's Eastern border south of the major city, Naples. Although its most famous for errupting in 79 AD and destroying an entire town, volcano has caused major devastation 8 times since then.

It was formed where the Eurasian and African plates collide. Although the last erruption was in 1944, the volcano is constantly monitered by Napolian scientists so they could warn the bustling city if another disaster happened. |
